We have met so many wonderful people this past year and there are some projects which stand out as favorites and deserve an encore. Here are some of those projects and the stories behind them. Hope you enjoy!
Lisa K, Hartwood, VA
Lisa is one of those women with a certain flair and style. She is also one of those women I’d sit on the back deck and drink and laugh until the wee hours of the morning. Just one of the many we’ve met who are so wonderful that the inspiration for their design came easily. She had a beautiful home to begin with, but just wasn’t completely happy with it. After making some recommendations for wall colors and having the rooms painted, I set out to find the perfect accessories to work into her existing style.
Lisa wanted to incorporate a bit of leopard into the design without going overboard, so my first mission was to find the right fabric and make some pillows and a throw.
I also wanted to bring in some great lamps, but couldn’t find the “perfect” lamp shades, so I made them using a strip of fabric and simply adding a tassel.
For many homes, I’ll make centerpieces or arrangements specifically for the client. Of course I had to make some for Lisa’s home, I think I did four in all. One of my favorites is the mantle arrangement.
We brought in a few great furniture pieces, accessories and area rug, and mixed them in with items she already had to complete the room!
I think for Lisa, the inspiration was definitely her personality. Having met her and worked in her home has made this redesign one of our favorites.
